Cad Rail has other facilities in Calgary, Lethbridge (under Caltrax banner) and has recently been selected by the ONxpress Transportation Partners association to provide all legacy fleet maintenance services for the Metrolinx rail fleet of approximately 1000 bi-level coaches and 90 locomotives. Cad rail’s delivery team will operate and maintain Metrolinx’s rail maintenance facilities in Etobicoke and Whitby, as well as in multiple overnight along with mid-day light servicing facilities located across the Metrolinx train service area.

Summary of the role:

The Material Analyst/Warranty Management will be responsible to evaluate material needs and material costs for maintaining the rail fleet and logistic processes of the business for the Metrolinx’s Legacy Fleet Maintenance operations.  In addition, manage the warranty data and all processes related to warranty claims.

This individual will collaborate with the management team, customers, suppliers, partners and involved stakeholders.

Reporting to the Material Management Supply Chain Manager, will be accountable to support the evaluation of material needs and the costs for supplies, equipment, and services.  This will be done by using tracking measures and analyzing the use of materials.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Confirm that all HSE policies, processes and procedures are being complied
  • Responsible for taking care of the material needs
  • Ensure a smooth flow of goods between the Operations distribution chain
  • Ensue that the Company’s inventory and shipping needs are up to date. Further ensure that inventory levels are adequate for the needs of the operation
  • Support the acquisition of new material and product data relating to the overall annual materials management plans
  • Analyze the cost of products and services to ensure operating costs stay within budget
  • Ability to monitor and identify repetitive component failures and share data with the reliability team
  • Ability to develop KPI’s and present data
  • Prepare senior management relating any potential complications
  • Analyze warranty data and status, complaint processing and customer/supplier claims. Track and implement corrective actions
  • Lead all warranty related tasks
  • Ensure warranty literature and reference material is current and distributed to the appropriate staff. Train staff on warranty policies and other related areas
  • Work with the team to prepare and create recurrent reports that are requested by operations or higher
  • Comply with the company’s applicable policies and procedures as well as human resources’ guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to build strong rapport with the team and unionized maintenance personnel
  • 3 to 5 years of analyzing Materials and Warranty principles/administration
  • Extensive background of accomplishing business strategies
  • Experience when dealing with headquarters as this individual will be accountable for results and overall performance produced
  • Diploma or degree in Inventory Control or Materials/Supply Chain Management or Warranty Administration or similar field.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in an unionized environment
  • Familiarity with other industries such as Aerospace
  • Previous experience working in the passenger/rail transit industry is an asset
