About Falcon Equipment:
Falcon Equipment Ltd. (“Falcon”) was founded in 1988 as a provider/dealer of mobile crane (articulating and telescopic) solutions in BC. In 2005, Falcon Shuttle Rail Ltd., (“FSR”) was founded to manufacture, sell and service Hi-Rail Trucks and Rail Car Movers. In 2019; Falcon and FSR amalgamated to become the new Falcon Equipment Ltd. Falcon continues its tradition of being proud innovator of Lifting, Rail and Municipal Equipment Solutions throughout Western Canada.

Purpose:
The Surrey Rail Branch Manager will supervise and facilitate the daily operations of Falcon BC’s Rail business according to set goals and business objectives. This role will leverage the incumbents mechanical engineering background to not only drive and grow current Rail installation and service business but also develop a design department capable of achieving the long term vision of Falcon’s rail business.

The incumbent’s immediate responsibilities will cover the manufacturing of Hi-Rail trucks, grow the aftermarket parts and service department activities, improve manufacturing efficiencies, become a key touch point for customers and develop current and new vendors.

The long-term vision for the branch and company as a whole is the development of a design and project management department to support in house product development and external rail project opportunities.

Objectives:

  • Direct and manage all branch activities in order to achieve specific goals and targets
  • Serve Falcon’s customers and clients to the highest standards in order to increase brand equity and reputation
  • Grow and develop the Surrey Rail Branch as a profit centre with a strong emphasis on market share growth and branch recognition
  • Develop an in-house design and project management team to support product development and larger scale rail projects
  • Work with the Director of Product & Design Management in the development of Rail Products

Qualifications:

  • A Professional Engineer with a background in Mechanical design. An MBA is desired but not required
  • Ideally, a minimum of ten years in the industrial or heavy equipment sector involved in the design and development of equipment
  • Preference given to a candidate with at least 5 years of Rail industry experience
  • Comfortable working independently to prospect, qualify, develop, and close business through a consultative sales process
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Prior experience in the heavy equipment industry, with a preference for Rail industry
  • At least 5 years of experience building and managing cross functional teams
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • The ability to lead, mentor and motivate a diverse group when necessary
  • Excellent communication and 'people' skills
  • A strong commitment to customer service
  • The ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations
  • Confidence, drive and enthusiasm
