Falcon Equipment Ltd. is currently seeking a hands-on, working Service Manager for our Edmonton branch located in Leduc, Alberta. The successful candidate must be a heavy-duty mechanic with extensive heavy equipment experience who is expected to have no problem being on-the-tools to get the job done!  In addition to having the lead mechanic role, this position will manage, organize and develop our Service Department in a healthy and profitable way by providing quick service turnaround and focusing on exceeding our customers’ expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the Service Department and shop floor operations
  • Lead shop mechanic / technician
  • Contributes to the Service Department throughput as a part-time working technician
  • Schedule the service and installation work and shop floor staff
  • Take service calls and troubleshoot over the phone
  • Ensure completion of shop maintenance, repair work and any field service work
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety and complete on-time deliveries
  • Monitor individual and departmental goals and mentor the shop floor employees
  • Schedule warranty work and follow through to completion
  • Manage the morale in the shop by setting and demonstrating a strong business ethic for dealing with employees, suppliers and customers
  • Remain up-to-date on current trends in industry-relevant technology
  • Other duties as required


Requirements: 

  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience managing/running a service shop in a technical, heavy equipment environment with a hands-on approach
  • Must show proven mechanical abilities and strong hands-on working knowledge of mechanical applications and repair techniques
  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician ticket would be preferred
  • Extensive prior hydraulic truck equipment and electrical experience is a must
  • Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) Certification would be a definite asset
  • Strong leadership and exceptional communication skills
  • Works well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Possess a valid Alberta Driver's License (Air Endorsement Preferred)
  • Communicates effectively and prioritizes accordingly
  • Thinks logically and displays strong troubleshooting abilities
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally
  • Trustworthy with a high degree of integrity, confidentiality and accountability
  • Flexible thinking and able to change direction at a moments’ notice
  • Able to work in both a team and individual environment
