Heavy Duty Mechanic | Commercial Transport Technician

We are currently looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic or Commercial Transport Technician (CVIP License is an asset) with experience in a Lead Hand Role for our Spruce Grove, Alberta Shop location.  REMCAN’s Mechanical / Fleet group is tasked with maintaining its diverse fleet of rail and non-rail equipment throughout the Western Region.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the shop, prioritizing and assigning work as required including deployment of mobile field HDM’s
  • Manage and mentor apprentices assigned to location
  • Complete daily safety briefings
  • Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment
  • Diagnose and repair all types of equipment
  • Complete work orders and equipment logbooks accurately
  • Source parts and supplies when necessary
  • Assist with other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of provincial red-seal apprenticeship in Heavy Duty Mechanics or Commercial Transport
  • Experience with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Class 3 w/ air license would be an asset
  • Experience with railway equipment an asset
  • Work within our safety guidelines
  • Ability to learn and repair all types of equipment
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations when necessary
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised as well as in teams
  • Able to work all types of shifts as required
  • Able to work in inclement weather all year round
