The Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers (CARS) is now accepting applications for its Board of Directors, and we invite qualified members to consider stepping into this important leadership role.
Serving on the CARS Board of Directors is a unique opportunity to help guide the future of the association while supporting the continued growth and success of Canada’s railway supply industry. Our Board plays a critical role in providing strategic direction, governance oversight, and industry leadership on behalf of our diverse membership.
What Does a CARS Board Director Do?
CARS Board members work closely with the CARS team and fellow Directors to support the association’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives. Directors contribute their expertise, insight, and perspective to help ensure strong governance, responsible decision‑making, and long‑term sustainability for the organization.
Board members are actively involved in:
- Providing strategic guidance and oversight
- Reviewing and approving budgets, policies, and major initiatives
- Supporting effective governance and fiduciary responsibility
- Representing the interests of CARS members
- Acting as ambassadors for the association within the railway industry
Time Commitment and Meetings
The Board of Directors meets approximately three to four times per year. We work hard to align Board meetings with existing CARS events whenever possible, making travel more efficient and maximizing opportunities for in‑person collaboration and engagement.
Who Should Apply?
We encourage applications from members who are passionate about the railway supply industry and interested in contributing to the leadership of CARS. Ideal candidates bring industry experience, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to dedicate time to Board meetings and related responsibilities.
CARS is committed to building a strong, diverse, and representative Board and welcomes applications from members across regions, disciplines, and areas of expertise.
