CARS board of directors voted unanimously to appoint Sylvia Newell as president effective January 23, 2017.
The title of president better reflects Sylvia’s role with CARS. She has taken over full leadership of the association and with minimal required participation from board members.
"Having the presidency as a permanent staff position creates a consistent face to the industry and better reflects the growing status and reputation of CARS. Rotating part time board member presidents can no longer properly represent CARS" said Bill Thompson, current CARS president.
In lieu of this structural change the new board positions of chairperson, vice chairperson and 2nd vice chairperson were created. Doug Reece and Barton Tabah were appointed chairman of the board and vice chairman of the board respectively.
In her new role Sylvia will report to the chairperson of the board.
