The U.S. administration is stepping-up efforts to convince the Congress to ratify the USMCA. Several high level meetings have taken place, arguing for the benefit of the USMCA to the U.S. economy. V.P. Pence and Robert Lighthizer were taking the lead in those forrays into congressional territories. It appears that the U.S. Congress will take their summer break and address the ratification in September. To date out of the three signatory countries only one: Mexico - ratified the agreement. Canadian PM indicated he is willing to call back Parliament to ratify the agreement, however, with the U.S. Congressional summer break, this does not appear to be a pressing issue. Even if the U.S. Congress addresses this issue in September, the Canadian Parliament will not be sitting until the end of the upcoming general elections, or the end of October 2019.
