CARS Members Foreign Business Opportunity in Supplying CArgo Railcars
CARS Members have access to express their interest in participating in an upcoming foreign rail industry opportunity on behalf of the Trade Commissioner Service. Chile's state-owned railway company, Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE), will launch a private, invitation-only tender in the first quarter of 2026 for the purchase of approximately 50 cargo railcars.
For context, EFE is responsible for the development, maintenance, and operation of rail infrastructure and services in Chile, The company operates through three business lines: passenger transport, freight transport, and real estate. Freight operations are carried out in partnership with private firms Frepasa and Transap, which primarily transport forestry, industrial and mining products.
