Coalition Invitation: Celebration of Manufacturing, February 22nd and Manufacturing Day on the Hill, February 23rd
(This message is being sent to you on behalf of Jayson Myers, President & CEO, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters and Chair of the Canadian Manufacturing Coalition)
Dear Colleague:
I am pleased to invite you to join us at our fourth annual Manufacturing Day on the Hill in Ottawa on February 23, 2016 when members of the Canadian Manufacturing Coalition and manufacturing leaders will be engaging a series of executive roundtable discussions on manufacturing in Canada with Members of Parliament and senior staffers from all political parties along with senior bureaucrats and other key federal decision makers.
Our last Manufacturing Day on the Hill event allowed us to deliver a consistent message to 123 MPs and senior government representatives, including 10 Ministers, 10 Parliamentary Secretaries, 11 Chairs of Parliamentary Committees, 27 Critics and Deputy Critics from NDP and Liberal parties, 3 Party Leaders, 1 Whip, 1 Deputy Whip and the Clerk of the Privy Council about the importance of the sector and our collective policy and regulatory priorities. With a newly elected government, this annual event will be more important than ever.
On February 23rd, Coalition members and manufacturing executives will speak with one voice on the issues affecting manufacturers in Canada with key decision makers in Ottawa and how we can work together with the government to drive investment, create jobs and expand exports. Participants will work in groups of 2 – 3 to deliver a coordinated message to as many MPs as possible throughout the day.
Request for meetings have been sent to all MPs and based on their confirmations personalized agendas detailing your specific meetings and your teammates will be sent to all participants by February 22, 2016.
I strongly encourage you to invite one or two of your member companies to participate as your guest in this event. It is imperative that government representatives hear from industry leaders.
To register your organization and your member companies for our Manufacturing Day on the Hill (February 23, 2016) visit: https://nat.cmemec.ca/mpower/event/loadevent.action?e=191.
In order to fully coordinate our activities, please note a participant briefing teleconference will be held on February 19, 2016 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Eastern time to discuss our messaging and the overall agenda for the day. Call-in details will be provided upon registration of the Manufacturing Day on the Hill.
In addition to our Manufacturing Day on the Hill, I will be hosting a Celebration of Manufacturing with the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (formerly Industry Canada) where we will launch Industry 2030, a cross-country discussion with industry and innovation leaders to identify the challenges standing in the way of technology commercialization and adoption in Canada and what can be done by business, academic and research organizations, and by governments to accelerate innovation-led economic growth. The Celebration of Manufacturing and Industry 2030 Announcement will be held on February 22, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in Ottawa.
