"With its population projected to increase to 2 million residents, the city of Edmonton recognised that roads alone would not be able to meet its future mobility needs. The Alberta provincial capital developed its first light rail line in stages between 1978 to 2010, and this is now approproately branded as the Capital Line. It is now expanding the light rail network significantly, with the new lines meeting modern standards and focusing more on reshaping the cityscape..." (Zelki, 2026)
