"The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is investing $5.3 billion in rail projects across the U.S., including grade-crossing improvements, infrastructure upgrades and new Amtrak equipment. The funding will support 41 projects in 23 states through the National Railroad Partnership Program (NRPP), with more than $2 billion directed to Amtrak fleet investments and $3.1 billion for rail safety and infrastructure proejcts. The program will close more than 30 grade crossings and upgrade more than 1,000 others with new infrastructure and technology..." (Worrell, 2026)
