“In 1976, 40.5% of mothers were employed. By 2021, this had increased to 76.5%. The 36.0 percentage point rise in the employment rate of mothers occurred alongside a number of important legal and cultural changes related to gender norms and gender roles in Canada.” (Statistics Canada, 2022)
