Field Service Representative – Eastern Canada
Here is a rare opportunity to join the leading provider of maintenance-of-way equipment in North America. Harsco Rail is looking for top talent to provide customer support in the eastern half of Canada.
Working from your home office in the Ontario or Quebec areas, you will travel to customer locations to commission new equipment, service existing equipment, and train and support customers/users. Serving as the primary support liaison between Harsco Rail and our customers, you will gather and report field data, guide customers to other support and quality assurance resources, and promote/maintain the high quality, professional, service-oriented company image our customers expect of Harsco Rail. As a Field Service Representative, you will assist customers to trouble shoot equipment over the telephone, and you will conduct product demonstrations before groups of customers.
This position requires 90% travel, both domestically and, on occasion, internationally. You will usually travel out on Mondays and home on Fridays, but must be willing to take on occasional extended trips of 2 – 3 weeks.
Our ideal candidate will have a high school diploma with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment with mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic components. Fluency in English and French (both written and verbal) is required. You must be eligible for a passport and for a U.S. visitor’s visa.
Experience in rail equipment would be ideal, with knowledge of DC electric, mobile hydraulics, and computer control systems. Working under general supervision, you will be able to plan and schedule your time effectively, and have the self-motivation to address customer needs quickly and effectively. You will be preparing written reports using a laptop and you need to be comfortable and skilled at presenting verbal information to individuals and groups consisting of people from all levels of organizations.
This can be a physically demanding role where you need to be able to walk distances on railroad tracks or gravel (ballast), climb vertical ladders, stand for extended periods, lift and carry up to 40 pounds, bend, and stretch.
