The Future of Canada-U.S. Trade Relations: A Call to Action

At the Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers (CARS), we are committed to advocating for our members and ensuring the health and growth of the railway supply industry. Today, we take a significant step in addressing a pressing issue that could affect not only our industry but the broader economic partnership between Canada and the United States.

Our President, Sylvia Newell, has written a letter to the Prime Minister of Canada, outlining concerns over the potential impact of recently proposed U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, including those in the railway supply industry. These tariffs have the potential to disrupt the deeply integrated supply chains that power our economies, increase costs for businesses, and weaken the competitiveness of North America's trade bloc.

The letter highlights the risks these tariffs pose to both Canada and the United States, including job losses, supply chain disruptions, regional instability, and strained Canada-U.S. relations. It also emphasizes the shared responsibility of both nations to proactively address trade imbalances through diplomacy and cooperation, avoiding the risks of a trade war.

A Commitment to Transparency and Advocacy
As members of the CARS community, you are at the heart of everything we do. Later this morning, all CARS members will receive a copy of the letter sent to the Prime Minister. This is part of our ongoing commitment to keep you informed about the government advocacy efforts we’re undertaking on your behalf.

We encourage you to take the time to read this important message and share your feedback. Together, we can continue to work towards a strong, competitive, and integrated railway supply industry that supports economic growth and cross-border collaboration.

Stay Engaged
Let’s continue to make our voices heard and work towards protecting the future of Canada-U.S. trade relations. Thank you for your support and engagement as we navigate these critical issues together.
