We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Rick McLellan, President of Genesee & Wyoming Canada, will be joining us as a speaker at National Railway Day 2024 (NRD24)!
With an impressive 41 years of experience in rail operations, Rick brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. His career began with Canadian Pacific (CP), where he started as a brakeman, conductor, and locomotive engineer. Over the years, Rick has held various managerial roles, focusing on rail corridor optimization and freight train performance.
In 2013, Rick joined Genesee & Wyoming as the General Manager of Southern Ontario Railway (SOR) and St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railway (SLQ). His exceptional leadership qualities led to his promotion to Vice President of Operations in 2016 and eventually to President in 2020. Rick has been instrumental in driving efficiencies and implementing the Root Reset Program, a precision railroading cost-efficiency program, in Canada and the United States.
Rick's leadership has also played a key role in shaping GWCI's culture, focusing on employee engagement and creating a great place to work. He serves on the Railway Association of Canada as a Director and is actively involved in various committees and associations within the industry.
