George Gavrilidis, of Sherwood Electromotion Inc. Recognized with Lifetime Achievement Award

PRESS RELEASE

[Ottawa, December 15th, 2022]. The Canadian Association of Railway Suppliers (CARS) has named George Gavrilidis, Founder and President of Sherwood Electromotion Inc. as the recipient of the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is awarded to recognize the contributions over the whole of one's dedicated career to improve the Railway Industry.

Hard work, unwavering commitment and a focused vision. As a young entrepreneur in the mid-1970s and the sole supporter of his family, George adopted these three principles to be the fundamental elements of his business enterprise, and a driving force in the transformation of a modest propulsion equipment remanufacturing shop into a successful, world-class, multinational corporation expertly serving Rail, Mass Transit and Wind Power Generation industries.

“I had the opportunity to visit Sherwood’s facilities and see first-hand what George has built over the last 47 years. George’s fierce dedication goes beyond just building a business. His investment extends to the employees and creating a culture within his business that is untouchable.” Sylvia Newell, President, CARS

Over the last four decades George Gavrilidis was frequently recognized for SEI’s meaningful contributions to the Rail and Mass Transit industries. He understands the strategic requirements of these industries and anticipates the evolving needs of procurement managers and fleet operators for durable equipment. Through the development of progressive service solutions, supply of dependable equipment and expeditious delivery of critical components, SEI directly contributes to the operational reliability of freight locomotives and passenger transit vehicles.
